Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to write or read. When she got her first guitar at the age 8, she started performing on radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made for herself locally while still at high school, but dreamed of a bigger stage. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts at the top of Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time, was in search for a singer for his show. Parton was hired in the year 1966. She was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974 as her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to Number. The first time it made it to number 1 was in 1974.
