Selena Gomez
Selena Marie Gomez, born on July 22, 1992, at Grand Prairie Texas[1,2], is the daughter of Ricardo Joel Gomez, a former stage actress from Texas[2,] and Mandy Teefey. Gomez's name was derived from Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla who passed away in 1995. Her mother is Italian and her father, a Mexican was born in Mexico. Gomez's grandparents immigrated from Monterrey to Texas in the late 1970s. [9] Of her heritage, Gomez has said she is "a proud third-generation American-Mexican"[10] and "My family does have quinceaneras, and we go to the communion church. It's all Catholic and we're not really doing anything traditional except go to the park or have barbecues at the end of Sundays following worship. Gomez, who was bilingual in Spanish since the age of seven, was quoted as saying: "[11] Gomez had an understanding of Spanish before she turned seven. She stayed with her mother after the divorce of her parents at barely five. In May of 2010 Gomez earned her diploma after completing her homeschooling. Gomez was conceived when her mother just turned sixteen. Her family faced problems with finances throughout the years of Gomez's youth and her mother was struggling to support her family. Gomez remembers having to look for coins to purchase gasoline for the car, at the time. Later, her mother recalled how the two would frequently walk to their local dollar store to buy spaghetti for their dinner. Gomez, [18] said, "I felt frustrated because my parents were not living together. It was difficult to find the light at the end of the tunnel. My mother was able to work hard to get me a better lifestyle. "I'm scared of what might happen if I stuck there [in Texas] "[19Then she said that her mom "was very strong with me. It was quite a burden being responsible for someone aged 16. She sacrificed everything to be with me. She held three jobs, supported me, and sacrificed everything to help me." Gomez was raised with an enduring relationship with her parents and her grandparents. The latter were also instrumental in promoting Gomez on pageants. She was taken in by her grandparents when her parents went to the school. The actress claims that they brought her right up to the point that she became successful in show business.
